Before and After New Windows and More Progress

Before with original 12 over 12 light (pane) windows
After with 6 over 6 light (pane) windows. Hope we can get that grass looking like it did above!!
It's been a long hot summer with trucks and cars parked in the yard everyday!

Stain samples on the kitchen floor. It's hard to tell in the photo but the top left is the winner.
3 parts English Chestnut mixed with 1 part Antique Brown.

These colors look nothing like this in person but we're going with English Chestnut on the screened porch.
It's gonna be awesome out here! And those rails around the bottom edge will be removed after inspection.

Jackhammered off the top step to make way for a deck which will go from that master bedroom door to....
across to the house and screened porch doors. It will cross at house level and then be a small deck area with steps down to a paved patio and grass area with landscaping etc. No pool there in our future for now.

Our future living room dining room area. Hard to believe that we're moving in there in 9 days!!!

The beautiful tile design in our master bath. Hard to tell in this photo but it's beautiful!

Cabinets and Floors

It's beginning to look more like a home....

My DH's office now has hardwood floors and so do most of the other areas as well.
Penninsula will have 3 Barstools

Kitchen cabinets! Ahhhh, beautiful!! The granite counter tops will be here soon!

Pretty little posts.

This place has lots of drawers. And the stained piece is a wet bar.

Kitchen sink will be here soon and the dishwasher is in a box in the garage. It will be going in that hole!

Spice holder! Nice.

Refrigerator goes in the far left and ovens next to that.
This is the breakfast nook where there will soon be a window seat under the window and shelves and cabinets built in on either side.

Love this piece!

My DH's vanity in the master. This was set in temporarily until the tile gets laid.
The floor has heat.

Speedy Progress

It's Saturday and people are working to get this house ready for us and we so appreciate it!! The tile guys were laying the master bathroom heating pad for the floor today and the windows were being replaced. It's looking so good!!!

Out with old windows. In with the new.

The steps up to the deck which is a composite like Trex called Azek.

Clean up has started and the hard wood floors go in this week.
Oh and that toilet is nice in the dining room doncha think????

Naked

The landscaping was removed from the front and back of the house yesterday. That will make it easier to paint and this fall we can have smaller, younger, plants and bushes installed.
We are thinking of going back with sod on the right side of the sidewalk and just narrow the landscape space some. It is very wide there right now.

This screened-in porch has gotten some neighborhood attention and potential new jobs for our contractor.

Court Yard Ideas

This interesting space has developed as a result of our two major additions at the back of our new (old) house. Yesterday we met a pool guy to discuss the possibility of a small courtyard size pool there. As we are standing out there with the temperature at near 100 degrees I couldn't think of a better plan for this spot!!! But this may have to be a future plan after all the work we are doing in the house!! We have also seen a couple of different concepts drawn up by a landscape architect friend of my DH's that are very nice as well where it could be a lovely pool-less courtyard.  The work on the screen porch and inside the house is starting to move along very fast and our kitchen cabinets are due to be set on the 12th. Since we have now closed on our current house and are renters of it, our time is limited. We have movers coming on the weekend of September 24th and our deadline to rent here is noon on the 28th so cross your fingers with me that the hardwood floors will be in and finished to hold our furniture pieces by that weekend. God bless our talented and dedicated contractor who is doing his best to meet this time frame!!  We are trying to get our current house packed ourselves so that is how we are spending our long Labor Day Weekend!! I will post again soon since things are progressing at top speed! And by the way, the house has now been bricked!!  These photos were taken about a week ago.

Slow Progress

It seems like things have been slower going lately and all due to a hang up in waiting for the electrical inspector to do his thing. It's finally been done and passed so now we hope things will speed up next week. We close on our current house Monday morning and will be renting for a month from the new owners. It will feel a bit strange living in someone else's house while it still feels like ours. But I am sincerely grateful not to have to move twice. Here are a few new shots of some of the work that has been going on lately. These include bathroom tiling, more screened in porch progress, and some newly installed windows, some where there were none before.
